Women's Work
The face of a woman mid-orgasm, caught between pleasure and performance, becomes the focal point of Women’s Work, a series that interrogates the gendered economies of pleasure and labour. Large, hand-punched circles from Coles magazine resemble oversized pixels, evoking a tension between the digital and the handmade. Coles magazine, a symbol of domestic life, grounds the work in the context of everyday femininity. The orgasm placed in this material inserts desire and agency into a space usually devoid of female pleasure.
